When the elevator’s going down, but you want to go up, let the elevator just pass right on by. Don’t get on and go down, thinking you’ll just go back up right away. You won’t.
More importantly, you can’t stop the people on the elevator from going down. You can’t “fix” them or “help” them by getting on the elevator with them. If you do that, you’ll just get hurt.
Their destiny is taking them down, helping them remember something. It is their right and duty to go down.
And now, it’s our duty to sit and wait for them to come back up.
My friend Domenico says that sometimes, the hardest thing to do is to do nothing. We learn the hard way
We learn to wait in front of the elevators, patiently, and only go up. We go up with those who want to go up.
