Yesterday, while working in the garden, I noticed how some tomato plants grew straight up the pole, but gave few tomatoes… while other, shorter, stubbier plants gave many more.
It made we wonder about our common definitions of “success”. From far away, yes, the taller plant looked “healthier” than the shorter one, but upon closer inspection….
So, as each of us look back at our lives, I hope we realize just how appreciated we are not for how far we’ve grown up the corporate ladder, so to speak… but rather for how much healthy, nurturing FRUIT we’ve been able to share.
For it is in giving of ourselves to others – like the lowly tomato plant – that we are truly healthy, appreciated, and (upon closer inspection)…
Happiest.
